JAR joins Trustpilot

Excellent customer service is a priority for JAR, and we are continuously looking for ways of improving. As such, we appreciate all customer feedback.

Doyenne

JAR has aligned with Doyenne, an association for championing women in the leasehold sector. Fiona Docherty, Managing Director of James Andrew Residential, is thrilled that our Property Managers are part of this community.

Doyenne hosts events for women working in property management to connect and inspire. Already two of our PMs have attended. There was an active conversation amongst fellow professionals on the importance of positive communication, wellbeing and the sharing of experiences.

“The event was helpful for both of us in our respective roles. We enjoyed meeting fellow colleagues from other managing agents,” Kelly, JAR.

“The event was fun and engaging. It gave us an opportunity to network with other property managers on a personal level,” Melanie, JAR.

Key takeaways: effective communication and confidence.

We look forward to seeing the next event and the learning opportunities to come.

Government responds to Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s final report

26 February: The Government of the United Kingdom responds in full to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s final report.

The report made 58 recommendations for improving building and fire safety. The Government has promised to act on all recommendations, marking a significant step towards systematic reform within the industry. New regulatory measures will ensure residents have clearer rights to demand safe housing. The industry will be held accountable for upholding these new measures. Key aspects include:

Establishment of a single construction regulator to ensure consistent safety standards.

Tougher oversight on construction product safety.

A proposed ‘Hillsborough law’ to compel public authorities to disclose the truth regarding major incidents.

The Government will enforce clearer rights for residents allowing them to demand safe, high-quality housing from landlords. Includes empowering social housing residents by expanding the Four Million Homes training.

Seven organisations implicated in the Grenfell disaster face debarment investigations.

The Government will create an accessible record of all public inquiry recommendations.

10 weeks at Bedford Square

In October James Andrew Residential moved offices from Finchley to 20 Bedford Square in central London. It has been 10 weeks since and our team are settling into the new base extremely well.

This was a big adjustment and required a lot of effort. We are so grateful for our incredible team who remained positive and hard working throughout.

Thank you to Jonathan Jerreat and his team at InformU who helped facilitate the move, ensuring we had everything we needed to establish a new base and clear out of our old one.

We would also like to thank Podium, our new landlord, who helped us settle into our new space and have been on hand to assist with queries.

BlockPro for building health, safety and compliance

James Andrew Residential has moved from Quooda to BlockPro for building health, safety and compliance. This is part of our ongoing efforts to improve customer satisfaction in all business areas.

BlockPro is a platform where our property management team records all risk assessments, health, safety and compliance reports and other recurring tasks.

For each risk assessment and report, BlockPro clarifies what remedials are urgent with a traffic light system. Lower risk remedials are green and have a longer timeframe for completion whereas red are high-risk and have a short timeframe. BlockPro creates alerts for each remedial, so nothing is missed.

What does BlockPro mean for our residents? The residents have access to the platform, meaning they can view all health, safety and compliance documents. This ensures total transparency between our team and our residents.

A new era

James Andrew Residential has moved offices to 20 Bedford Square in the Bloomsbury district of central London. This exciting new chapter has brought much change. Due to our proximity to the Central London Tube stations, commuting is now easier for most of our team. This greatly benefits our busy property managers, who are often on the move visiting sites.

We have also changed our office phone number and call system. Our new phone system provides a more efficient way of connecting callers with the relevant team members and helping with all business queries.

We have invested heavily in new systems to improve customer service this year. As well as moving offices and changing our call systems, a lot is going on. We are so grateful for our fantastic team, who have remained optimistic and hard-working.

We would also like to thank our residents for remaining understanding during these changes. It is an adjustment for all, but we already see the benefits. 2024 has been a year of focus and determination. We look forward to seeing this hard work pay off in 2025 and beyond.
